Anaesthetic Fees are applied in one of three ways:

  1. Self-pay : anaesthetic fees are paid by you (the patient) direct to Bath Anaesthetic Group
  2. Fixed price : anaesthetic fees are included within the 'package price' you pay to the Hospital
  3. Insured : your insurance company will pay all or part of our fee, often leaving you with an excess or 'shortfall' to pay to us.

You may search using a unique surgical code (obtained from your surgeon's secretary) or by a description of the procedure.

For each procedure, we charge a specific fee for our anaesthetic service. Insurance companies will pay a certain 'benefit' to their customers for each procedure. Our fees have increased in line with inflation over recent years, whilst many major insurers have not increased the 'benefits' they provide to you. The result is that there is often an excess or 'shortfall' for which you will be responsible.

Since insurers and individual policies vary, we strongly advise you to contact your insurer before your admission in order to clarify whether or not they will cover the full cost of your anaesthetic.
