Each surgical procedure has a unique code, used by the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetist to charge for their services. Your surgeon's secretary will provide you with the code for the intended operation. The estimate is based on the code for the proposed operation and the final fee may change in accordance with the surgery eventually performed or its eventual duration. This does mean that the estimated fee may not be accurate and is given only for your guidance. Some patients require multiple procedures performed under one anaesthetic.
